About the role

Reporting the Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager is responsible for the origination and development of solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind projects in the United Kingdom. This role plays a crucial part in expanding our renewable energy initiatives and requires expertise in land acquisition, negotiation, and project development. The Business Development Manager will contribute to the growth of the business and renewable energy industry, supporting our vision of providing clean and sustainable energy solutions. 

The Renewable Energy Business Development Manager is instrumental in the growth and success of our renewable energy projects, with a focus on origination, project development, and sustainable energy solutions. This role directly impacts our company’s growth, profitability, and strategic direction in the UK market. 

Role responsibilities

  • Own and manage the origination of solar, wind, and BESS projects from the initial land identification stage to securing options, including negotiations with landowners and local stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with project teams, both internal and external, to ensure key milestones and requirements are met. 
  • Conduct constructive negotiations with landowners to secure project sites. 
  • Align project decisions with the efforts of Power Marketing, particularly in response to changing energy policies. 
  • Liaise with internal company stakeholders as needed and ensure adherence to corporate parameters. 
  • Undertake ad-hoc activities necessary to achieve the company’s objectives.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in originating and developing PV, BESS, and ideally Wind projects in the UK, with a proven track record in land acquisition, contractual negotiation, and project delivery. 
  • Deep understanding of the ‘greenfield’ development process for solar farm projects, including site control, planning, and negotiation. 
  • Strong self-management skills in handling large-scale utility projects. 
  • Familiarity with commercial land negotiation and terms. 
  • Knowledge of PV technology and ancillary technologies like batteries and T&D networks.
